Piano Lessons

Having Fun, Seriously!

I absolutely love sharing my passion through teaching. Music lessons can be one of the most meaningful gifts—a way to nurture your child’s creativity, and a moment of calm and joy for yourself amidst the busyness of life.

My goal as a teacher is to create a supportive and engaging space where students feel safe to explore, take risks, and enjoy the process of learning. I tailor each lesson to the student’s age, level, and personality—whether that’s helping a young beginner play their first piece, guiding a teen through expressive phrasing, or working with an adult returning to the piano after years away.

I’ve taught students ranging from age four to college level and beyond. During my time at Indiana University, I served as an Associate Instructor for two years, working with both music majors and non-majors in group and private settings. I believe in a balance of structure and freedom, where students build strong foundations in technique, ear training, and theory while also learning to make music that feels personal and alive.

Teaching Philosophy: Why I Teach

I teach with the hope that each student will grow not just as a pianist, but as a human being shaped by music.

The most rewarding moments in my teaching are when I see students fall in love with music for themselves. My goal is not to push a particular path or outcome, but to create space for each person to develop a meaningful relationship with music—whatever that may look like. Even if it’s just a small spark, I hope music adds something positive to their lives.

Secretly, I also dream of building a little community of people who get excited about classical music with me.

I want my students to experience what it means to give something of themselves—to play with intention, responsibility, and courage. To feel the weight of delivering something to others, and the joy of doing so with their whole heart.

And years from now, if they ever find themselves thinking, “Oh yeah… my teacher used to say, ‘Use your brain!’”—that would make me smile.

Having devoted much of my life to performance, I bring a depth of experience that goes beyond method books or competitions. I understand what it means to stand on stage and give everything you have. That perspective shapes every lesson I teach.

I love working with students (and parents!) who value thoughtful learning, artistic exploration, and personal growth through music.
